When will someone listen?

I need help!!!

My chest hurts and it’s hard to breathe. I go to medical and they tell me I’m fine. Medical gives me an aspirin and sends me back to my cell. I lay in my bunk at night coughing trying to catch my breath. I go to medical again and tell them something is wrong. They say I’m fine. Send me back to my cell with another aspirin. Will they ever listen to me? Medicel thinks I’m trying to get out of prison or that I’m seeking drugs. I just know they that is what they are thinking. The pain in my chest is getting worse and it is getting harder to breathe. What do I do? T

Three or Four Days Go By:

It has been days since I have been to medical. I can barely stand, the pain in my chest is so bad. I can hardly breathe. I call my mom, she starts crying. I tell her I’m going to medical again but they will not do anything but give me an aspirin.  My mom is wondering if I will die in here. I’m starting to wonder the same thing. I am not a lifer but  there is something wrong with me and I can not get help. No one will listen to me and I am really sick!

Going to Medical:

I go back to medical. This time they listen to me breathe. I finally get an x-ray of my chest. My lungs are filled with fluid, I have an infection in my chest. I was sent to the hospital. At the hospital I was informed that I have an infection in my lungs, chest and have MRSA.  This is awful!  How serious is this? Why did this happen to me? After a couple of days in the hospital I go back to prison. I fianlly get to call my mom. I tell her everything. Now where do we go from here? No one would listen when I said “there is something wrong with me”.

MRSA:

MRSA is Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcuc aureus bacterium that causes infection in different parts of the body. It’s tougher to treat than most strains of staphylococcuc because it’s resistants to some commonly used antibiotics. MRSA can be life-threatening. Is contagious. Needs intravenous antibiotics if it is in your bloodstream or you have a severe infection.

This young man was placed back in general population during COVID and is still currently trying to recover.

Sadly I hear this a lot from families and inmates.

FYI  In all the State Prisons In Arizona only 10 have full medical care units.
